NOTE: This pack will not work fully in DAZ Studio. You will only be able to use the Poses. NOTE II: Works fine with Poser 5 too, but you will get error messages because of the version numbers of some items. Installation Instructions: 1. Extract the Zip folder to your Poser folder or your DAZ/studio/content folder (if you want to use the poses). 2. As an alternative you can extract the Zip folder to a different location and manually copy the folders and files to the correct location as listed below. Load the RoomofLight.pz3 from the RoomofLight Scene folder inside your Poser folder. 2. When the Scene is loaded you will see a black floor and wall prop, two side wall props, a front wall prop and 4 very large spotlights (I made the spotlights that large so that it is easy for you to find them when setting up.) 3. Things that you cannot see are render settings and atmosphere settings for the volumetric lighting effects. 4. The first thing to decide is if you want V4 alone or V4 with M3. 5. Load either the V4 Base or V4 and M3 together. 6. Open the Pose library and then RoomofLight. 7. Load the pose or poses you would like to use after selecting the corresponding character. NOTE: You can, of course, use any of your other favourite Poses. 8. Now its time to decide where you want your light to be coming from and how it should look. For this set up procedure I would recommend opening the Camera library then RoomofLight and loading the Setup Camera. 9. Open the Light library and then RoomofLight. 10. Select one of the preset light settings or follow the instructions below for manual setup. a. When you load the RoomofLight.pz3 all lights are set to on. To switch a specific light off simply select it and then open the options tab and turn it off. To turn it back on simply set it to on and make sure that the cast shadows box is selected. b. To change the colour of a light first make sure it is turned on and then click on the small circle of colour underneath the light control tool and select the colour you want. NOTE: The spotlights are all set up to give the best volumetric effects so I would recommend not changing any settings other than colour and on or off. If you want to experiment though then please feel free :) 11. Now that you have the colour and rough direction set up you can set the exact direction by simply selecting the Wall and Floor prop and then using the dial for rotation on the y axis. Everything is parented to this prop so if you want to move your lights around simply rotate this prop. It is also possible to turn the whole room upside down so that the light is coming from below, play around with it a bit and see what works well for you. NOTE: I would not recommend moving the lights using the light control tool because the stencil props etc will not work properly then. 12. Now that you have colour and direction set up its time to decide how your light should look. You have the following options: a. For a normal spotlight beam simply do nothing. b. For a well defined spotlight beam open the Props library and then RoomofLight and then load the LightBox Prop that corresponds to the light or lights you are using e.g Above, Above Right, Above Left, Left or Right. c. For the effect of light shining through bars simply load the Bars Prop that corresponds to the light you are using. You can scale and rotate this prop using the dials after you have selected it to get different effects or load the prop twice and then rotate one to get a grid effect. d. The final option and the one with the most possibilities is the Stencil Prop. Simply load the Stencil Prop that corresponds to your light. Select the Prop and then go to the Materials Room, for different effects load a different transmap. You can find examples of these in \Runtime\textures\RoomofLight\ or make your own using the Template that is included (see below for more tips). The stencil prop can also be scaled and rotated to get the effect you want. e. All of these can also be combined e.g bar props with lightbox props or stencils with lightbox props etc. 13. OK now you have the lights set up as you want. 14. Open the Camera library and then RoomofLight. 15. Each Pose has 6 Camera angles, load one of these, mix and match or set the camera manually until you are happy with your scene. 16. Now simply render the scene without changing any of the render settings. DAZ Studio users: NOTE: You will only be able to use the poses! 1. Open DAZ Studio. 2. Load V4 and M3. 3. Open the Pose library and then RoomofLight. 4. Load the Poses you require after selecting the figure you wish to pose. Tips: To make your own Stencil patterns simply open the stencil.jpg template (\Runtime\textures\RoomofLight\Templates\) with your favourite paint program and then paint a design in black. Light will shine through black areas and the white areas will cast shadows. You can invert the image or change the brightness and contrast to get different effects. To cast shadows on the floor simply select the Wall and Floor prop, go to the materials room and set the floor material to white.
